THIS IS OUR STORY
From the making of our first piece of jewelry to 3000+
Marren Jewelry is a fine jewelry brand created by Marian Rentzou in 2011. Every piece is made by hand and most of the time it is OOAK/limited edition or made to order. Marian works with sterling silver and fine silver, as well as with 14K solid gold.
A FEW WORDS
From the Artist
My personal story on silversmithing started back in 2010 as an attempt to escape a reality I felt I didn’t belong in. Although as a kid I was always drawn to the arts, it was only until after I had finished my studies in Journalism and HR that I discovered the magic world of jewelry making. Better late than never, they say. Making jewelry became an addiction that changed my life ever since.
My jewelry is all about sharing what’s in the heart, and for this I’m deeply connected with every piece I make. All my pieces are about love but also about the blood, the sweat, the tears (sometimes even literally) of both the sender and the recipient. I strongly believe that a certain darkness is needed to see the stars. I like to see my jewelry as the stars.
Each piece carries energy. Each piece tells a story. Each piece is often created to match with one, and only, unique recipient. I like to think that people who choose to wear my pieces also connect with the energy they carry, right from the start. That way, they also connect with me. So different people, often from distant countries and different backgrounds, and yet so the same.
Thank you for being here <3
THE INSPIRATION
Drawn from the art of ancient times and Rock n' Roll
Thinking of a new piece or designing it on the paper and then making it from start to finish on the bench is a ritual to me. I often find myself standing between the mundane and the magic, so my inspiration comes from almost everywhere. I draw inspiration from eras of the past and their artistic representation, nature and the changing of seasons, people and their deepest feelings as well as the material itself.
I use traditional silversmithing / goldsmithing techniques and tools, and I love working with patina where applicable. I love the tarnishing effect it brings out. Working to create an antiqued look or a vintage inspired style on a brand-new piece of jewelry is a challenge for me.
THE LOCATION
Brought to you from Jewelry Capital of Greece
Currently, Marian runs her small business from her home located in Ioannina, the “city of the silver makers”, in Northwestern Greece where she lives with her family. She spends most of her days at the studio, walking by the lake, discovering hidden spots in the city’s castle or just watching her favorite mountains from afar.
SUSTAINABILITY
Our materials and our Ethos in harmony with Nature
We try to recycle our silver and gold when possible, and we strive to have only ethically mined gemstones. We are firm believers in supporting small businesses around the world, and we also love to participate in our local community. For this reason, our partners (suppliers, caster, lapidary technician) are very carefully selected for their exceptional work and ethos.
