Since ancient times, butterflies have symbolized not only physical transformation but also beautiful changes of the soul. In ancient Greece, they were called “psyches,” believed to represent the souls of the deceased. The Greeks referred to them as “skōlēx” or “kampē,” while the chrysalis, the next stage after the caterpillar, was known as “nekydallon,” meaning “shell of the dead.”

Our butterfly ring was first made in wax and then cast in sterling silver. The ring has also been oxidised and then brushed selectively to create an antiqued finish.
